Hi Mike, could you please clarify what you mean by LC?

And Kandee, interesting that you say that people with LC and gluten intolerance could have symptoms of fibro & be misdiagnosed.... I suspect I have fibro..... maybe my problems are just iron related....

Once I know what LC is I'll hopefully be able to comment some more!

.... for your comments and suggestions. They've been really valuable.

I did an internet search yesterday and came up with a yummy high iron high fibre recipe for dinner. I cooked up buckwheat, lentils and brown rice and added chicken, sweet potato, spinach, leek, broccoli and toasted seeds. It was SOOO delicious!!

I also bought some roasted chickpeas for snacking on, which I'll be sure to have with a piece of fruit to get the vit c.

Felt EXHAUSTED yesterday arvo, but am feeling better today which is good. I have considered injections, as my mum used to have to have them at my age. I'll see what the blood tests say first (isn't it ironic I had a blood test because I was feeling fatigued, and the blood test only served to make more tired!).

Hope everyone is well.

Chrissy..your dinner sounds yummy. Maybe you should post the recipe in the recipe section, yes?

I almost forgot...molasses is high in iron too. (you do get that there don't you?) I remember as a child my mom used to mix it into milk (like chocolate syrup) for me---or you could make a big gingerbread cake--------yum --but that would have added sugar, and I think you're avoiding that, aren't you?

Doh! I keep forgetting that LC has other meanings. By LC I mean Lymphocytic or Microscopic Colitis.

Yeah, weight loss can be a huge problem for LC (Lymphocytic Colitis), so I'm guessing your right, if I lost a lot of weight then I should be concerned about anemia. I'm gonna have to look more into this. Last years blood tests showed no signs of anemia for me, but then my symptoms are pretty mild compared to others with LC. A bunch of them have *D* 15 or more times a day, for days at a time. Some have more mild symptoms like my own, but can affect ones life negatively as well.

The one problem with vitamins is that absorbtion can be limited as well. Though I imagine that since they are concentrated perhaps more gets into the body than via real food sources. Learning more and more each day, but I see I still have more to read about.

I don't know much about Fibro, so I will have to read more. What symptoms seem similar to LC? I imagine that their very well could be a misdiagnosis, especially if the dr doesn't know much about LC or isn't a GI Dr, and even being a GI dr they might not think to test for it.

It's interesting to hear that Fibro folks do better on GF. There's got to be a common thread there somewhere that may be a key to figuring these diseases out. Who knows.

Thanks,
Mike

Good suggestion, I'll post the recipe as it was soooo yummy and sooooo simple.

We do get mollases, but yep I'm going low sugar at the moment. I'm actually really enjoying my roasted chicknuts, we can buy them roasted and seasoned here in Aus. I've now bought a bag of raw chickpeas and am going to roast some myself, YUMMMM! I def recommend them! They're really high in iron (but of course need vit c so I eat fruit or vit c veges with them).
