It is as it's a soluble fibre food. Be careful however, especailly if you have a problem with fructose (1 mango has me dashing to the loo for hours!).

Is it okay to eat a soluble fiber fruit (banana, papaya, mango, baked apple(not sure if that one is SF) ) alone since they are soluble? Or do these fruits need an additonal SF source before eating?

What about if the fruit is cooked? Lots of times I eat a cooked, peeled nectarine as a snack, alone. Or a baked, peeled apple.

...which is why if you're not sure if you are okay with "normal" amounts of fructose, you should eat it after SF.

your fructose tolerance? I know there is a test for it, like lactose intolerance, but I have called like 6 hospitals in chicago area, some are major university, and none of them offer this test.

Is this another trial and error? This is all too hard.

If I am okay with fructose, it would be okay to eat them without a soluble fiber food?

Well I've learnt from trial that I'm okay with fruit on an empty stomach.

I think the fructose test is to drink 3 glasses of tomato? juice on an empty stomach and see what happens. On another forum www.ibsgroup.org someone there had all sorts of tests like this.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
