...what do you take on a daily basis (besides SFS)?

I take Zelnorm, peppermint capsules, a probiotic and a stool softener (Phillip's Laxative Dietary Supplement) but I'm looking for some ideas.

Thanks!

I've been having chronic C for about a month or more now and I just don't know what else to do. I've tried Citrucel but it doesn't work and I tried taking Equalactin (2 tablets, 4x a day) and it worked for awhile but not anymore. For the past month or so I've been taking Ex-Lax on and off but I hate having to take it because I don't want to get dependent on it. Any tips or advice on what to take would be greatly appriciated. My lower stomach/abdomen is so bloated and hard I can't stand it anymore! I'm going to see an IBS specialist April 19th (soonest she could get me in). I've also been taking for about 3 weeks, VSL3, a probiotic preparation of live freeze-dried lactic acid bacteria. This was recomended to me by a family friend/RD (whose also a Fellow of the Amer. Dietetic Assoc.) and he's had IBS for over 20 years and said this has worked the best for him. I've been taking one packet every 3 days but the directions say to experiment with dosage and I don't know if I should take more or less? Here's the link to the site: www.vsl3.com Thanks for ANYTHING! I'm so desperate

Acacia (SFS) 3tbs/day
8 glasses of water/day
excercise 5 days/week

You should NOT be taking exlax on a regular basis. It is extremely bad for you and will end up causing you more problems in the long run. My doctor told me that it's so bad for your system they shouldn't even be allowed to sell it. I think you can get stool softners that don't create dependancy and are a lot easier on your system.

I thought calcium could make C worse? I must be wrong.

How many mg of both the cal/mag and the mag malate do you take?

Thanks so much!

What is the Omega 3:6:9?

Are the digestive enzymes the papaya kind? What brand are they?

Thanks so much!

Calcium CAn make C worse. If taken with magnesium tho it helps. How much mag. you need i very individual. I have fibro so I take 2,500 mg cal and 1,250 mag with the combined stuff. Then at night I take mag malate which has 200mg mag and 1,100mg malate. THIS is what helps me go so smoothly.

In the beginning I took the mag malate all day and I got D. So I had to test out the water and find what works for me.

HTH....hope you go soon!

I've been browsing over posts and see a lot about this Acacia. What is it exactly? I've stopped the laxatives because I'm extremly worried about screwing myself up for good. Where do I get this Acacia and should I talk to my doctor before starting it? I have the other stuff down pat though. I drink over 100oz of water a day and do 50-60min of cardio 5x a week, and sometimes on weekends if I'm feeling lazy Thanks for everything! Do you know of certain stool softners I should try? I'm kind of clueless about them

Acacia is a soluble fiber supplement similar to Metamucil or Benefiber. It's currently only sold here by Heather through her website. It's important to take a fiber supplement whether it's acacia or something else. You can certainly check with your doctor first but it's basically a food not a medicine.

Good luck! And keep coming back, okay?!
