Hi, its been awhile since I was here. I have been in and out of the hospital. I really need help with this. I can't eat much at all and water upsets my tummy. I can lose up to 5 lbs in one week. When I'm in the hospital they run some tests and they come back normal. So I go there to get IV and pain meds. Its very hard on my kids (ages 14 and 9), the husband is getting better now, but still gets mad about all this. He wants someone/something to fix it, which can't be done. I already lost one job for being sick to much. I now only work 9 hours a week because of this, I keep my stress level down as much as I can. One doctor is trying to treat my pain with meds for slow stomach/colon but the meds made it worse so I had to stop them. I have both D and C IBS, which doesn't help with other medical problems with the stomach and fibro. I feel like a walking drug store too--I keep an updated list with me all the time (it help the ER doctors). Please let me know what I can do and what has worked for you.I don't know what to do anymore.

Hi! I feel for you! I am new to this and already it is a living nightmare. Do you follow the IBS diet that Heather wrote? I am only just starting it. Apparently, I have been eating the wrong foods, fiber etc. for ages. Do you take Zelnorm or does that make the diarrhea side worse? Do you take Bentyl? I get some relief from that but when it gets really bad, nothing works...so I feel for you.

The insurance company will not pay for Bentyl. And my doctor is out of samples. Its hard sometimes to follow the diet with other family members don't want to eat it. but I do try, maybe I should try harder.

You've probably already tried a food journal? If not, I highly recommed it!

It takes dicsipline to stick with a diet...esp. with kids/hubby that want to eat their own thing. BUT...you need to take care of yourself!!!!

I have fibro too. It is crucial to MOVE! If I sit in bed or even sleep too long...I FEEL IT with pain! (NOT always easy....but even a walk half way down the block helps a LOT!)

I remember the days when even water made me sick. You WILL move past this. What do you eat regularly? Do you take a multi-vitamin? Have you been checked for celiac?

Keep positive and know you are NOT alone *big hugs*

Follow the diet! VERY important...get hubby and kids to help you find safe foods that they'll all eat....chicken dinners, pasta, whatever.

Get a SFS! It's the best thing you can do for IBS-A. As a fellow A, I really recommend Acacia. LOVE it!

Water...remember, cold is BAD! Try peppermint or chamomile tea instead....they'll help with the pain/cramps as well.

Ruchie has some great advice. As a fellow fibromite (we're TOO similar ) I'd suggest you limit how much sweet stuff you have...if you make brownies etc for the kids, limit yourself to one maybe.

Good luck!
