I was wondering if there is anything else to put in bagels besides lox or smoked salmon that is ibs friendly. I can't eat smoked salmon. :ooo:

If you can get any of the Tofutti cream cheeses (I posted a list of flavors on the Recipe board a day or two ago) that would be one choice--or try one of the recipes for tofu cream cheese that I also posted. Seedless jam would be another, or a bit of each. You could make tuna or chicken salad with fat-free mayo, lemon juice for flavor, finely minced celery or other vegies for crunch. Hummus might be good, esp. if you made it yourself (I don't like most of the ones from the store, too much tahini!). Turkey and fat-free mayo with whatever vegies you can handle (such as one slice of tomato). Basically any low-fat sandwich filling--are those the kind of suggestions you were looking for? Hi,
Have you tried turkey breast and cranberry jelly or chicken breast and dijon mustard?
I also like avocado, soy cream cheese and tuna or the good old Aussie favourite - vegemite.

Cooked egg whites and a slice of soy cheese is my favorite thing to but on a toasted bagel or english muffin. This is our families traditional Christmas breakfast and I was so excited I can eat egg whites because I would have really missed it this past year.

Louise - you can put anything on a bagel and make a sandwich out of it. I love cream cheese and jelly, but now the cream cheese is out--but if I find low fat soy cream cheese, I'll be a happy camper.
What about water packed tuna with some soy cheese melted over the top (put it under the broiler for a min or so to melt the cheese). The soy mozzarella is really good. I eat it plain it has such a good flavor.

Sharon,
Vegemite is an Australian product and I don't know how people in other countries live without it. It is a spread and is made from concentrated yeast extract. It is a brown colour.
It sounds funny but is really nice. It is also completely fat free. There are similiar products called promite and marmite but I don't think they are as good. Anyway it is heaven and so great on toast or fresh bread.
I'll see if I can find a website for you so you can have a squiz.

Kerri,
My husband said he thougth a guy at his work had gotten some vegamite somewhere around here. It is brownish in color right? I would definately be interested in trying it, so I am going to try and search for it.
