So I have diarrhea now. I'm supposed to meet my hubby at Macy's...he wants to buy me a present for our 1 year anniversary...and I have D! *whines* Help!
I drank some cranberry juice cause I felt like I was getting a UTI...that's probably my culprit, right?
How do I stop my D!?
Thanks....

Have you taken your fiber today? That should help you...also try the BRAT diet....bananas, rice, applesauce, toast...my mom always recommends that when I get it...it helps. Hope you feel better...and congrats on your first year of marriage!

Hey, Ruchie Happy 1st Anniversary. When in pain I find a couple of imodium the only way to go. It may have consequences for the next couple of days with C but at least it will get you where you need to go. Failing that, how about internet shopping lol?!

Do you think it's smartest to let my system do it's thang naturally...or take immodium? (I've been going so much...there's not much left!) I think D is worse than C....it's so restricting!!

Ruchie, I would try NOT to take Immodium unless you are out of control. D is a natural response to the body trying to relieve itself of something. I am usually C, like you, so I just try to let my body do its thing when D hits me. Feel better soon!

It's a tough one...if you don't have to do anything and you're not in too much pain I would say let nature take it's course but sometimes if you have somewhere you HAVE to be, it's a short term answer. It works by slowing down the reflexes in your system that sends everything on it's way, so it's just disrupting you in a different way,and I know we should really think long-term stability but sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do... What's more important, meeting your hubby at Macy's or putting up with C the next 2 days? Then again, this post is so long, you've probably gone by now LOL

I think Imodium is ok with IBS (I have been IBS-D for 13 years), because your body isn't trying to clear you out of something (as with a stomach flu or food poisoning), your gut is just spastic. If you are worried about the Imodium bringing on C, try 1 pill instead of two, or even 1/2 a pill. And just a FYI--when I was in HS and took a lot of Pepto, it turns the "output" black, so be alarmed if that happens! (What a gross life we lead!)

Amen to that. I have D and envy those of you with C as you can't go anywhere. I agree with BritSarah to go with the Imodium. That's what I do.

And to think I was envying those of you with IBS-D. When I have D (which is rare), I think to myself that this is not nearly as bad as C. At least you go to the bathroom, get it over with, and the rest of the day you feel fine. And it's so nice to have a flat tummy and to be able to fit in my clothes. And I actually have an appetite and can eat something, which is not true with C. With C, the misery is constant for a day or two----and nothing relieves my pain and bloating. Last night, I had my jeans unbuttoned and half unzipped because the bloating was so bad that my pants were hurting my tummy. Thank goodness I heard my sons and his friends coming in the house before they caught me like that! I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.

They're BOTH awful! I think D is worse in a way beacuse it's not always over with right away. I had D for hours, literally!, yesterday! I even took a nap, woke up, still had D! I was home-bound all day until I took Ppto.
C is bad because, at least for me, it never goes away, I'm constipated with little pebbles most of my life, major bloating, gas (which I had with the D as well!), and a full feeling all the time.
With D, instead of a full feeling, I felt weak and tired.
With C, you feel full, bloated, and not like being anywhere--so unattractive!
I HATE THEM BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!
Just my big "O"!
