on this diet. I am not addicted to food, but eat normal amounts just different foods. So I cannot comprehend why I have gained weight.

In fact, I eat about or less than 1600 cals a day, so maybe it's because I went from chronic D to chronic C? I don't know, but it scares me.

While I needed to gain weight in the begining of this diet, I'm afraid it won't stop because I don't eat a lot. And no desserts or sugar either. Just the carbs and safe foods of this diet. I miss salad and all my veggies and fruits!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Trust me, it's most likely all bloating from the C! Plus when you don't go enough, the weight of the C is in you, and that can be several pounds. There are times where I magically lose pounds overnight, I just randomly get bloated and then not, you know?

Anyway back to the origional topic, I've definitly had my share of binging on food! Things that have helped me is trying to eat healthy...yes seriously, the healthier I eat, the less I crave junk food. But once I have some junk, then I keep wanting to eat it. For some reason the biggest way I've been able to stop binging is by taking 5 flaxseed oil pills each morning, I have no idea why but it totally stops my binging! It's fantastic

Beth,

I totally feel for you. I eat about 1650-1675 cal. per day....and i still gain weight. I do not eat and sugar but i do eat fruit. I guess i am torn..maybe i have to puree' everything--esp greens. I also food combine and would be torn how to eat yams and turkey. Does that make sense?? What is chronic d to C..i am not following. Have you gone to a doctor to see where your weight needs to be in a healthy range?? I tend to want to be 10lbs less no matter what ..lol. I hope i can help you in some way..at least know you are not alone. Jen:)

I agree with Fishnets! When we are C and bloated...we can carry excess pounds easily!

Beth, you say you gained 25 pounds? Are you sure you're not getting any sugar? Not even from canned greens? Not even evaporated cane juice from the HFS? Do you drink a ton of water to flush you out? Get plenty of exercise? If you you answered yes to all these questions it may be a medical cause. I know hypothyroid can cause weight gain for example. It oculd also be from medication you are taking. I gained 20 pounds on amitrpltaline (elavil). Just some things to consider! *hugs*

I gained 40lb on Amitryptiline. That was just a horrible thing that happened in my life, a true turning point I should say. I am short, so that much weight on a little woman, OMGOSH, I am still trying to loose it. I look better than I did when I gained it. I still have a about 15-20 to go. Hey, how do you know if you are a food addict? I think I am, I want to eat all of the time, I am gaining some of my weight back, and I hate that. I am so perplexed at this, I never thought I would have an eating disorder, I am constantly looking for something to eat. I hate that, and I wish it would go away. What do you know about this?

I am SO SORRY the med did this

Go to www.oa.org. This is the overeaters anonymous website. There will be questions you can ask yourself to determine if you are a compulsive overeater. Feel free to e-mail me Ruchily@yahoo.com if you're still not sure and I'll see what I can do!

Hope you're feeling good *big hugs*

too hard to keep track. Plus I like eating my rice with my protein in one meal along with a veggie.

Chronic D to chronic C --- D stands for Diarrhea and C stands for constipation on these boards. Check out the abbreviation post at the top of the board.

I know a healthy weight for me would be anywhere between 110 to 130 pounds probably. And yes, I'm afraid it won't stop climbing up. I hope the others are correct in saying the extra stool is a cause. But I don't think it can account for 25 pounds!

I don't eat anything with sugar in it except for my one cup of rice milk. I do frozen veggies and get the lowest and make my own soups.

None of my meds list weight gain as a side effect. Hmm I'm stumped. I don't drink a lot of water, but do drink herb tea all day. Excercise is zilch!

I am very bloated and I am retaining lots of water in my calves and ankles. When I take my socks off at night I have like an inch difference where the sock indented my skin!

I've had my the blood work for thyroid done (THS) but it came back normal. I have heard though that the test doesn't always indicate when there is a problem. My doctor doesn't seem to take my edema seriously since the blood work came back okay.

Another reason I need a new doctor!

I say get a new doc right away! And don't give up! I KNEW something was wrong with me in addition to IBS...and I am so glad I didn't give up on myself or think I'm crazy (at least not too much of the time!) There WAS something more than meets the eye...and if I hadn't spoken up for myself I'd still be undiagnosed today! I say go with your gut feeling! If you think it could be thyroid or anything other than IBS I would continue doing research and searching for a supportive doc. You can do it *hugs* I'm here for ya! Love, Ruchie

depending on how stopped up you are...it might count for more than you think I've lost over 5lbs before!

I'd say it's more likely something else....and try and exercise if you can! Not using our bods can DEF make the weight go up
