Oh, for goodness sake, now I have a new symptom....
It started off with the wierdest feeling of tightness in my throat and over the last couple of weeks I have a mild indigestion.
The last week has been awful. I really feel that my throat is constricted and I get this tight feeling in my stomach while eating and then afterwards the pain in my chest area. Lots of little burps too (I never usually burp!)
Does anyone else have this? Is it linked to ibs-c?
I bought some tums this morning to help with the discomfort but now realise they are calcium supliments which you know will make me constipated.
What a nightmare.

If your symptoms are what I'm thinking of, I used to have that all the time. You're right, Tums won't help you if you're IBS-C. I found that Alka Seltzer helps me a lot when I feel that way. Hope that works for you. And trying to prevent it, try drinking peppermint tea whenever you can to help your stomach relax. Good luck.

That sounds like it's to do with reflux problems - the burps, throat tightening, chest pain, etc are all symptoms of that. Talk to your doc about this.

if reflux is the problem, anything minty will make it worse as it relaxes the esophagul tract..better to stick with ginger, fennel etc...good luck!!

Ditto here, check it out with your doctor; just to be sure.

You might try something OTC like Pepcid. It really helped me.

Question....I have been experiencing D for over a week now, with bad pain the last few days. The pain has subsided, but now I have pain right under my sternum and an "uneasy" feeling in my belly. Could this simply be indigestion? Or heartburn? I couldn't sleep well last night due to the pain under my sternum.
Thanks.

...mention it to your GI. There are some great meds available for GERDs... but in the meantime Zantac is best!

Does Zantac come in pill form? If it comes in other forms, which is best?
Thanks.
