Hi~
I have been lactose intolerant for almost my whole life. I have had IBS and spasmic colon disorder for about 10 years though was not diagnosed until a few years back. I was uneducated by my doctor and they made me feel it was all in my head. I am 23 years old. About a year ago I had a fisure surgery and have not been the same since. I have read your books and have made lots of progress, however many things suggested in you book do not work for me. Since the surgery I can not have any dairy even the slightest bit of lactose free butter sends me into an episode. I can not have any fruits or veggies with small seeds or thick skin. Nothing with any nuts or nut based at all. Obviously the main things like pork, red meat, eggs or anything seasoned, fried, spicy...you get the picture. I live off of fish, plain boiled turkey and chicken. Everytime I try something new it always almost fails. I am very frustrated and I suffer from chronic hemrhoids as well since the surgery. The doctors say it's unfortunate but I will be this way forever. A lot of the recipes posted I can not even try,it seems other's do not have as many triggers as me. I was wondering if you could point me in any direction for recipes for a stricter diet such as mine. I really appreciate any help anyone could give. Thank you for your time.

on the board or in Heather's books. I too must have more triggers. So I just stick to a basic plain diet. Sometimes when I read the posted menus I wonder how these can actually be eaten by people with IBS because I would be sicker than a dog if I ate them! But I guess that I just have more intolerance or different tolerances than other people.

I eat nothing fancy. Fish or chicken with a little mild herbs, rice with chicken broth or turmeric and water, boiled potatos, rice noodles, all without any fancy sauces, just a smidge of safe dairy free margarine or nothing at all. Plain veggies such as carrots, spinach, squash, green beans.

I don't add onions, tomatos, garlic, or anything like that. I really don't mind. It's easier to cook plainly anyhow. I don't think you need to get fancy with ingredients in order to enjoy your food. I savor the taste of the food itself without having to add things. Keep it simple and safe for you!
