I just read in a magazine that tums are recommended for calcium. Has anyone taken it and has it had an effect on IBS-c? I wonder too if taking so many a day (the article says to take 6 per day) is actually bad for your stomach. Thanks for your help. Laurie

I don't see why Tums would be bad for your stomach. They are also an antiacid which help a lot of people with heartburn. I would think the only thing you would need to watch out for is any dairy ingredients they might stick in there - check the ingredient list before you take one!

I used to use Tums for heartburn and they gave me d so I had to stop. I have an alternative cures book and what they say about antacids isnt good. It depends on what your beliefs are....some people think taking otc medicines for everything is just fine and some don't. I would definately check it out first. Might depend more on how often you plan to take them.

I remember reading somewhere that all antiacids long terms are very bad for us folks with IBS. I can't remember for the life of me where I read this, but I remember I did because I had the same thought. But decided not to take them because of all the research I had read.
