Not new to IBS but new to this sight (as of last week) and new to the diet. How much soluble fiber is too much soluble fiber (I don't think I'm spelling soluble right but can't get my mind to work right). I've tried starting the diet but can't get much in me but the fiber. (Thank God it doesn't give me gas!) Can you take too much soluble fiber?

Help!

Love,

Jamie

Jamie, welcome to the boards! You're among friends here. As for the insoluble fiber, add it slowly. Base your diet on the soluble fibre, and then slowly add in insolubles to the point that you can tolerate. Everyone is different. Just introduce insolubles one at a time, I would start with cooked carrots. Mash, cook, peel and puree are your new best friends. Make sure your insolubles follow these rules. That will make them easier to tolerate. I hope this helps.
Hugs, Han.
