back pain?

This morning I woke up with a symptom I've had several times before. My belly was bloated and sore (though I was neither D nor C, very slightly gassy), and my whole belly felt like it had been streched and was just sore. The pain wraps around my lower and upper back, so much so that I'm only comfortable lying on my side. My sides also ache. It's not excrutiating but not comfortable either. I described it to my doctor once as feeling like I'm in a dress that's too small, or like a girdle that is squeezing me front and back. He said that is not typical IBS pain, but he's also a moron so who knows. The pain went away after a couple of hours (and a couple of gasx, not sure if that's related or not. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Please help Panda

Yeah that's what I was thinking too, except that I wasn't that gassy.

Hi Panda,
Yes, I have had similar pain before, too. And after I take OTC Phazyme (like GasX) usually within an hour I feel much better. I think it is trapped gas. Sometimes, my tummy feels so bloated that if I bend over it hurts and there is hardly a comfortable position I can get in.
I've always assumed that since mine goes away after a gas pill that it was trapped gas.
Good luck Barbie

Thanks Barbie. I guess that's probably what it is. Stupid IBS is such a chameleon.

Amanda, Barbie is right, it does sound like trapped gas. I have felt it cause my colon twist and turn , and it hurts!
You probably didn't have much gas because it was all trapped , I take Hyoscyamine every day because of gas and occasionally it gets trapped. The last time it bothered me I thought I was having heart problems, it was right up under my ribs, , ouch!
I keep meaning to tell you how pretty you are,I am sure your parents are so proud of you. I would be if you were my daughter!

I am IBS-C..but, the pain predominant part bothers me most. That is what happens to me when I have an attack. Oh, the pain. Feels like the pain is sqeezing my back/ribs from the inside. When it is in the front seems there is no position I can get into to relieve the pain. The "child" pose from yoga is what I get into most and wrap the heating pad around my back..and of peppermint tea..and MORE peppermint tea. UUGH, IBS. Feel better.

Gigi you are so sweet, I'm gonna cry! What a nice thing to say to a stranger -- thank you!
I have hyoscamine but I don't take it too much because it makes me feel fuzzy. Maybe I'll start taking it before bed. Thanks, Panda

"sqeezing my back/ribs from the inside" Those are the exact words I used with my doctor and he looked at me like I was nuts. I'm not glad that you have pain too, but I am pretty glad that at least I have an explanation now! Thanks a bunch, Panda

Do you take the sublingual or the timed release. I do so much better on the timed release, those subs are terrible!
