Since starting the IBS eating plan a few weeks ago I feel alot better, but I really miss cookies! There are quite a few low fat brands on the market - would they be safe? Also, anyone have a low fat equivalent to chocolate chip cookies?? Thanks, Leah(the second Leah!)

Hi Leah, Check out the IBS recipe exchange board. There are tons of great recipes for us IBS'ers. You can get to it through this site. I found good cookie recipies there. Good luck Cloudygirl

Leah: If you bake at all, just substitute apple butter for regular butter in the recipes you like. I've found it changes the taste somewhat, but I don't care as I'm a cookie addict and a sweet cookie is a sweet cookie.....lol. (you may want to adjust the sugar as apple butter is very sweet)

Thanks for the idea - I haven't found apple butter yet, but will have to look a little harder. I am a baker and will definitely try that - thanks! Leah

Watch the ingredients, I should have said that before. Mine is only sweetened with apple juice, some may have banned sweeteners in them. I couldn't find any non-sugar/corn syrup ones in the regular market, so I pick mine up at the health food store by the honey.

Thanks - I'll check the recipe exchange - I can live life without french fries, etc., but not without cookies!

Miss cookies myself, but found cakes and breads are easier to adapt to this diet. I have not found a recipe that hits the spot like a butter made chocolate chip cookie, but a chocolate muffin will satisfy it

I like Peek Freans NICE cookies. There's sugar on the top. Sorry, no chocolate, but it really seems to hit the spot when I want something sweet. Also, there are digestive cookies that have a light chocolate coating on them (I think Peek Freans has them) - look around and see what you can find. There may be some low fat cookies with a tad of a choc coating that might work.

I know it's not a gooey cookie, but what about snaking on the new Graham Crackers sticks? I love those things and they satisfy my sweet tooth. Also, I have eaten Fig Newtons with no problem.
