Before I start my Nursing Program in the Fall I have to have shots and because my parents never kept immunization records I have to have some shots redone. There is a blood test that checks to see if you are immune to three diseases (Titer test), but it can not check for Polio. Next week I am getting my first round of Heb. B, polio, tetanus and TB. Does anyone know how these shots affect the GI? I know how miserable my children were, so I think as an adult it has to be harder on the system. I am nervous and any advice will be helpful. Barbara

Hi Barbra; these shots shouldn't affect your IBS at all. I had these shots back in Feb.2003, and Hep.B in April.I needed these as I went away in April/May to the Dominican.I had no fevers or anything other than a bit of a sore arm (muscle)where I had the shot.

I've had the TB test. It does nothing to your GI. It only affects your arm where they inject it.
