Does anyone have any suggestions about how to heal tongue sores? I suffer from this malaise on a weekly basis even when my IBS is not troubling me.

My suggestion is to do warm salt water rinses. Make sure your water is really warm... not hot, but close. Use enough salt that it makes the water extremely salty... like 1-2 Tbsp of salt to 4oz of water. Rinse in your mouth for a few seconds and spit. Make sure you use your entire 4oz. and rinse every couple of hours!

I usually put vegemite on them. I guess it works the same way as the salt rinse, as it's really salty, plus it has vitamin B in it.

I take benedryl (dyphenhydromine HCl) to dry them from the inside-- It's a trick my dermotologist taught me which is great for any open sores which you otherwise wouln't want to put anything on top of. I take one when I get up, one at lunch, then one before bedtime. It cuts the healing time for me by 1-3 days.
