Hi everyone! Well I went IBS grocery shopping today. Unfortunately I had to brave Woolies and Coles with my 2 year old twins, one of whom screamed the entire time. I am starting my IBS diet tomorrow. I've spent most of my life suffering and it's finally time for me to do something about it (not that I haven't been, just been following doctors advice and eating all the wrong but supposedly right foods). I just had a couple of quick questions before I start:
# Is wheat as an ingredient okay as long as it's not whole wheat?
# Is lettuce and sprouts for sandwhiches okay?
# Is it okay to eat some things in small doses when I'm feeling okay that are not "safe" ( I really love my milk and my whole egg mayo)?
And finally I have some brand names to add to the australian list. I did a search but couldn't find what to do with them, can anyone help? Ta muchly

Hi Double Trouble - welcome!

Wheat flour is just fine but avoid the whole wheat.

I do fine with small amounts of lettuce (best with romaine or butter lettuce - worst is iceberg for me) Everyone is different though so just try small amounts and see how you do with it.

Personally I absolutely cannot do milk or any dairy. I can have about a teaspoon of reduced fat mayo without trouble.

Good luck,
Leigh

Wheat is fine. Unless you're celiac/intolerant, but that's a whole different issue!

Lettuce in sarnies can be okay, but I'd steer clear until you're a bit better - you need to give your system a rest!

I'd avoid all dairy - even a tiny bit affects me. But low fat mayo is fine and a little full fat stuff occasionally won't kill you (but I said a little, okay?).

If you just do a post with the brand names, Sinead will add them for you!

Email me and I will add them to the next update of the list- (and I will add how to add things to the list on the post too!)
Great to get new additions, hope you are enjoying the start of summer in Canberra, I am VERY jealous, it is wet windy and freezing here!
