Must I give up my Soda Pop?

I follow Heather's diet advice pretty strictly. Except, I can't seem to give up my one can of soda pop every evening after I am home in my sweats with room to bloat! It's Diet Rite which means it contains splenda.

For all of you who are stable, do you think this also needs to go in order to be stable? Could the soda also cause D, Gas, pain, as well as the bloating?

I am better. I used to drink up to 6 cans a day!

No soda. It's a double-whammy; the splenda isn't good, neither is the carbonation. Oh wait, it's a triple - the caffeine will get ya too. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I feel your pain. I used to drink 2 pots of coffee and a 6-pack of Coke a day!

Hi Augie.
As you can see from the boards, we all have our cheats - life would be no fun without them. I would just say prioritize with the soda and with the rest of your diet. If that's what you CAN'T give up - enjoy it sparringly - maybe not EVERY day would be better - but we all have little endulgences here and there - just weigh them carefully!

Wow good job on breaking the addiction to that extent. I have pop like every couple months when I really want some and I try to let it defizz some. So like all things we can't hardly give up just give it up and keep in mind you could cheat when it gets really bad and you just have to. Good advice huh? No but we are only human. Try to reduce as much as you can.
Oh yeah the poster at the dentist of what it does to your teeth could make anyone give up on it! Even diet pop is nasty on the teeth!

I worked for a dentist that had that poster. All pop is bad, but if I remember correctly, drinking fruit flavored pop was the equivalent to drinking battery acid. Would you believe it?? NOT GOOD FOR YOUR TEETH! Very good that you're giving it up!

It is caffeine free. Plus, do you guys really think that even though I drink it at 8pm in the evening, it could be causing the cramps, spasms, D, gas even the next morning and day? I'm trying hard to keep this one, can you tell!
Any suggestions on what to replace it with?

And it was nice to see some new faces. I need to get a picture on here soon.
I'm new and I just cannot believe how helpful you all are. I hope that one day soon, I am able to give back more than I can now. But I'm way from stable

It can affect you for up to 72 hours and once those spasms start, things that normally don't hurt will! I'm trying hard to keep this one, can you tell! If you HAVE to keep it, which I strongly advise against, only have it when it has gone pretty flat, on a full stomach, NOT just before bedand get some exercise after
Any suggestions on what to replace it with?
I drink juice on a FULL stomach, smoothies with banana and berries are YUMMY, Check if you can get a juice cocktail that has no HFCS, but the safest things are herbal teas and water. What about getting a nice fruit tea. adding honey to sweeten and keeping it in the fridge?

I thought the only teas we could have were the fennel, chamomille, anise, etc. I didn't realize we could have the fruity teas like rasberry or blueberry. I thought those were the same as fruits.
Do smoothies need to be made with soy beverage or is Rice beverage okay?

I think cranberry juice is safe, but I'm not sure and should it be drunk after a meal? Of course there is rice and soy milk, water and herb teas. Any other suggestions?

I can drink cranberry juice on an empty stomach, but I generally try to eat something with it anyways. In regards to smoothies, I make mine with fruit juice since I HATE soy and rice milk.

Any are okay in smallish quantities after SF. Cranberry juice is supposed to be very safe. I like mango and apple myself - the mango is safe.

With all of them, go carefully at first and never on an empty tum.

What I also do is I will put a buch of Ice in the glass and then fill the glass about half way up with juice! Then I let it melt!! That way it is not as strong and you are still getting some water!! It is the cheep way to make flavored water and a little less rough on the tummy!!!
