I've read a lot about people here getting left side pain from colon spasms and gas but I've been getting pain on my right side, rib area, going into my back. Stretching it out doesn't work. If anyone knows about this please tell me.

Hi Steph,
I get pain on both sides and it's usually trapped gas. I take OTC Phazyme and usually get relief. As as matter of fact I had pain on my right side this morning.
If it's not gas, it could be Costochronditis, an inflammation of the cartlidge around the rib area. My DIL had that and it can be quite painful but not serious.
Good luck Barbie

Hello again. I also have right side pain. I have had it on and off for 10 years now, and it can be quite severe. I had my gallbladder out and it was full of stones. So I thought that would stop the painfull attacks, but it didn't. Sometimes I just have a burning gnawing in the right side under my rib cage, and sometimes after I have been eating things that I shouldn't, then I have an attack. Which feels like a gallbladder attack, its extremely painful and lasts about 15 min. Is this the kind of pain you are having? The gastro. doctors have done many tests and have found nothing wrong and say that its IBS. They haven't helped me much yet. A least I know im not dying.

I have pain on both sides too but I think it's just the colon. It does make my back sore too. Don't know if it's kidney stones. My doc says they shouldn't bother me like that so I'm back to my first theory.

I used to get pain on both sides and right round to the back! Chamomile or peppermint tea helped me, but the best thing was getting on a SFS.

If it is cartilage inflammation, what would I have to do to get rid of it?

hi i had severe right side pain and back pain during one of my flare-ups and went to the er because of it. they told me it was a combination of crohn's and appendicitis. i ended up not having my appendix taken out and am doing much better now. it might not be the same thing, but definitely go to the hospital if the pain gets severe!
cheers, abby

Wow! That's kind of scary. I'm glad that you're doing better. It's not severe and has gotten a bit better since yesterday, but I do have a doctor appointment later today. Take care

I get it sometimes. I drink a cup of peppermint, walk around and the air passes.
Good luck with your appointment.

Hi Steph,
It would probably be best to go to a doc to get a proper diagnosis. But, my DIL just took Ibuprophen or Tylenol, used the heating pad and tried not to exert those muscles. After a period of time it just went away on it's own. She said it was quite painful.
Good luck Barbie
