I keep hearing people toss around IBS-C and IBS-D. The thing is, I'm not sure which I am. I have a BM about once to three times a day, on bad days even more, but it is not diarrhea, in fact is far from it. It's usually smaller, non-bulked up BM that often takes a ton of straining to push out. It often comes out in pieces. So the frequency of BM's is like D, but the consistency of BM's is like C.
Any ideas?

But both the frequency and the composition of the BM's are consistent. It's not like I go from going all the time to never going, it's always one to three per day. And the composition is never like diarrhea (never liquidy). Still confused!

...no-one is permanently, no chance of ever changing, either C or D. The labels just indicate what you have most of the time. And alot of people have a mixture, which is what you have even though the frequency doesn't vary! Take all advice going for IBS-Aers and don't worry about it.
