hello! help with insoluble vegies please!

hello lovely ones well...i think i may be stabilising...don't want to jump the gun because last time i thought i was stabilising i got an attack, and the time before that, AND the time before that...its been an awful summer (I have had ibs for ten years but this summer a tummy bug set it off terribly for over four months!). so my tummy is feeling a little C (which I waaaaaay prefer to D by the way) and i realise it is time to introduce more insolubles. i am not going to touch the wholewheat bread anymore because i have taken myself off wheat for now. the white wheat makes me too C and the wholewheat too loose. So, these are the vegies I am currently eating safely : carrots, butternut squash, pumpkin, parsnips, potatoes, yams and raw cherry tomatoes. Whats the next safe thing to add in? Looking forward to your suggestions....lots of love

I would try well-cooked peas next. I've found them very safe, even when I was primarily D (I'm an A). Good luck!

Casey you are always so gorge (shortened version of gorgeous in london..even though i moved to NY now) about answering my questions..thank you! should i mash the peas or just throw them into some yummy rice? XXXXXXXXXXXX

Not to answer for Casey, but I'm guessing you could do either... mashing being the safest though. I do well with Heather's Lemon Asparagus pasta... very yummy. It's in IBS: The First Year just in case you didn't know. For some reason it ALWAYS makes me go!!

Hi. I can totally sympathize with what you've gone through with your tummy bug troubles. I was hit with one last winter, and I went from D to C at that time. It took quite awhile for me to return to "normal", and I remember trying to incorporate vegeys into my diet. Bevrs had suggested that I add some canned mixed vegeys to some broth and pasta and make soup out of it. It worked well for me. Pumpkin was a lifesaver for me, too. I'd heat a little up every evening, add some brown sugar and pumpkin spice to it and had a fast yummy treat that really did wonders for me. I hope you're all better soon. Terri

I would agree with Linz on the zucchini risotto, also, what about french cut string beans? Because most of the "bean" part of the green bean falls out when they are french cut, these are much safer for me than regular green beans! Also, I wouldn't advise this too strongly because I know it's a big no-no for lots of people, but I can eat canned corn in small doses with bread or potatos, or some other soluable. Take that one on your own advisement though. Good luck! Min

Here in Ontario we have frozen tiny sweat peas and they never cause me a problem. I always eat them after my soluble fiber though.
