anyone ever use this? I have a medication to stop D or going too much but I wanted something to prevent it from happening. My stomach is always so nervous which causes spasms which causes me to go. Lately though, (maybe because I'm getting this new medication) I've been on the C side, (meaning for me, going once a day and straining a bit) Something I never had to do before.
Just curious on people's experience with this type of medication. Sandy

Many of us here have been on bentyl. There are several different brands of anti-spasm meds, some work better than others for certain people. I currently am using Donnatol and find it to be more effective for me. I do know several people that swear by it though! It can cause you to have a very dry mouth, peppermints altoids are good for that and the peppermint helps relax your tummy as well!

Thanks for your reply.
My prescription says take as needed every 6 hours. How do you take yours? As needed or do you take it every day?
Thanks,
Sandy

Hi Sandy, I've been using bentyl for a few years now, and I really like it. I lean more towards IBS-C than D. I suggest drinking extra water, and making sure you consume more soluable fiber. I've found ginger and peppermint help with the c. Good luck.

I only take it when my tummy hurts. If its real bad, I'll take 2 right off than as needed for a day or two or until I feel better.

Hi again,
I'm on a low dose of bentyl, but I take it 20 minutes before I eat. I can take 1 or 2 pills up to 4 times a day. I try not to because it gives me dry mouth and makes me tired.

My stomach doesn't hurt, it's the nervous stomach that makes me go so much. I may not even be consciencely aware that I'm nervous but my stomach has a mind of its own. I thought I'd take it on days I'm under known stress. ( it could be as simple as going to work and needing to do a lot of stuff). I hope it prevents the trips to the bathroom.
Thanks for your replies, Sandy
