Anyone have this? (not IBS-related...I don't think)

Have any of you had this? It's some kind of virus, maybe???

It started with a headache and sore neck a week and a half ago. That part is gone now I am so exhausted and can't seem to get enough sleep. Plus I have these huge puffy bags under my eyes. Anyone ever had anything like this? I don't have a fever, sore throat or body aches.

I just feel completely drained!

Hmm, not sure on this sweetie. Are you taking a good multi-vitamin?

I think so. Maybe I'm not getting enough vitamins/minerals?

I take a woman's multi-vitamin that has iron, calcium, etc.

Maybe you had a cold or some sort of virus. Take your vitamins, drink lots of fluids, get rest and hopefully you will return to normal soon.

This is very interesting, please keep us posted.

BIG HUGS to make you feel better!

I think I still have something. Not sure what. I think I'll ask to get tested for anemia, thyroid and mono.

Someone I work with has mono but the only way I could have caught it from him (yes HIM) is if it's transmitable through coughing and sneezing. Anyone know?

S.S.,

I don't know if you realize this, but your symptoms are also symptoms of stress. Neck ache, headache, tiredness, sleeplessness, all indicate high levels of stress. (My stress mgmt course is paying off! )
have you had a mental health day recently? I like to take a day off every once in awhile to have a day all to myself. If you cannot take off of work, maybe even clear your schedule for a Saturday or Sunday and let it be relaxing.
getting enough nutrients could have something to do with it , too, like Michele said.
Hope you are feeling better!

I've noticed you posting on Crohn's board so I know you are in the process of seeing if you have it. My biggest complaint about my Crohn's symptoms believe it or not is the exhaustion. When you're disease is not treated you can get extremely tired. Since I've started the Prednisone and Remicade I've noticed a big difference. I was having a hard time getting out of bed in the morning for work, and basically unable to do much of anything else besides work. So if you do find out you have Crohn's that might explain the tiredness.

Wow, really. Thanks for letting me know this. I had no idea.

I do have such a hard time getting out of bed in the mornings. It's terrible.

Have you ever had puffy eyes? I was worried that it may also be a sign of Crohn's as it would make sense that inflammation in the intestine(s) could be seen elsewhere such as the eyes?

How is life with Crohn's by the way? Is it manageable with medication?

You might have a good point about it being stress related. i was super stressed with that whole GG drama and figuring out what to do with my BF. Then I had that doctor's appt. where he told me i might have Crohn's. The day after that I did take a personal day! I stayed in my pj's and watched tv all day. I think I'm still stressed with thoughts of that.

It seems like I can't get enough sleep and that's why I thought maybe I had some weird virus. I did meditation at work today (a group of us do that at lunch in a boardroom). I'm going to start my once a week yoga at work too. Maybe that will help me relax and feel better.

Sheri- I noticed on a different post that you said things were going well with your BF and you realize that he might be the one for you. That's great!

Could well be a virus - post-viral lethargy is like this (like Fibro!). Go see your doc though...getting your thyroid checked and checking for aneamia are good ideas.

I'm not sure if my eyes ever got puffy. Hopefully you don't have Crohn's but if you do, the medication is helpful. I have it in both my colon and intestines. The medication I take for my colon works great, keeps the inflammation away. I'm trying the Remicade for my intestines right now (it's an IV treatment you get every couple of months). They have pill medication for the Crohn's in the intestines, but unfortunately I have a reaction to all of them. So hopefully the Remicade will work for me. Life is manageable once you know what you have and what you need to do to treat it. And once you give yourself permission to take it easy when you're not feeling well. Good luck with your testing and diagnosis.

Thanks Annmarie. I hope it's not Crohn's either but I'm not in control over the outcome at all.

Thanks for letting me know about the medication. Do you have IBS and Crohn's?

Once I know what I officially have I'll post here letting everyone know.

Thanks again and take care.

I think stiff neck is a virus. I've had it at the same time as others.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

S.S.: I've had mono. It's not pretty. I actually could only take a shower every other day cause I had NO energy. I had a headache and fever for 10 days with it. No idea how I got it. The only thing I can think of was that I got it at a restraunt from maybe the glass or fork I ate off of. I had been at one on a Saturday and started feeling crappy within a few days. You can really pick it up anywhere.
I hope you don't have Crohn's or Mono or anything for that matter! It's amazing how when all the tests come back negative you kinda thank god it is only IBS! Good luck at the doctors.
Oh and the puffy eyes...that's more than likely from just not sleeping silly!

Ya, I doubt it's mono as I don't have a fever at all. Thank god for that! Sorry you had such a tough time with it.

The puffy eyes might just be from my insomnia but I slept like crazy on the weekend and still had my bags. Maybe it takes more than 2 good night's of sleep for them to go away?

My GI isn't sure yet if I have both IBS and Crohn's. At first he thought I did, but then he found some Crohn's hiding in my intestines. If that's treated and I still have some symptoms, then I guess I have IBS too. I'm still following the diet anyway. It won't hurt the Crohn's and it is definitely healthier than the way I was eating before.
Take Care!
