so i just found out that my years of thinking I have IBS were wrong... I have celiac. So, living off all the ibs safe foods, like bread, were actually making me sicker! eww! My doctor said that I should have been checked for this right away, but since my last 2 doctors were so horrible, they didn't. does anyone have any insights into celiac? I've searched online and it sounds pretty bleh... has this situation happened to anyone else?

I think Ruchie has both Celiacs and IBS... I know my aunt has celiacs.. and mom is gluten sensitive as well as having Crohns.. its not that bad.. but you do need to learn a new way to cook/eat to have gluten free breads, etc... good luck!

My boss's mom has celiac and diet is critical to managing this disease. You would not believe all the foods that have gluten in them -- a lot of spices, cornstarch, etc. There are quite a few websites out there so just do a search for celiac diet and start reading. Healthfood stores are a good place to find gluten free foods.
Doctors. They sure are frustrating at times!!

Wow! Aren't some doctors stupid! At least now you can make yourself feel better!
There are loads of GF alternatives you can get. HAve a look in your HFS. You might want to invest in a breadmaker that does GF recipes. And obviously, there's stuff like rice, chicken, fish........
