I have always liked hot dogs and have missed them with IBS. Someone suggested I try turkey dogs since I can eat turkey with no problem and they are low fat. My GI tract obviously did not agree as I was up at 2 am with pain and D. What is it about the turkey dogs that went wrong? I am so disappointed, and not feeling so well this morning.

I think there's more to them than just turkey. Aren't they still made with pork products??

Hmm, not sure. Try a different brand. Maybe there was a preservative in there that your tummy didn't like. I eat them all the time without problems! I hope you are feeling better.

I don't know, but they make me sick too! Maybe it's the gelatinous material ( ) they use to hold it all together, or maybe the spices?

many are, but the issue with dark meat is fat content, so its just be careful of that and other ingredients and some people are more tolerant of higher quantities of fat in their food then other..

Thanks for the replies. I checked the ingredients ... no pork listed. I did not see an HFCS. 5 grams of fat which is 1/3 of normal hotdogs. Maybe it was that I ate 2 instead of just 1. Luckily I'm feeling better than I was this morning, though not completely back on track.
