I love this bread. The only problem is it tends to upset my stomach just enough to keep me a little leary of it. I'm wondering if the amount of canola oil (3/4cup) could be reduced and if so, how much? Also, is it possible for the pumpkin to be an irritant? Thank you for all the help.

Natalie, I'm sure the oil could be reduced or replaced by applesauce. Not sure how much, but maybe someone else can help you.
Now, although pumpkin is a yummy source of all kinds of good nutrition, there are a few people who it doesn't agree with and I'm one of them! It's a food intolerance issue not an IBS issue. Try substituting cooked sweet potato for the pumpkin, same amount (unless of course sweet potato gives you problems too!). Search for my "Pumpkin Pie Smoothie" too -- I make it with sweet potato and YUM!!!!

I have a problem with this bread too and I don't know why. I can tolerate pumpkin and apples so I don't know why. I kept wondering it maybe it's the topping ?

Thanks, I was thinking it might be the pumpkin too. I do ok with sweet potatoes so maybe I'll try substituting those. I think first I'm going to reduce the oil a bit. It seems pretty moist the way it is, so I think the reduction won't really affect the overall taste.

I don't know about the topping. I'm just going to try to reduce the oil and see how I do. It's a shame, b/c it is such a good recipe!!!
