I like to really detoxify my body every couple of months. I commit 2-4 days to cleaning out my digestive system, with teas, water and fruits. I know stores like GNC sell colon cleansers and other products for this purpose. And I'm thinking of purchasing some. What does this kind of detoxification do for IBS? What's the best strategy? Is there a recommended one for IBS?

And as always, thank you all for your help.

Uh...don't. Most detoxifications are too harsh for IBS as the IBS gut over-reacts to all stimuli. The colon cleansers in particular are a very bad idea. Plus, having an empty tummy is not a good plan with IBS!

How about just sticking to water, teas, rice and veggies for a few days instead? That makes me feel "cleansed" and doesn't hurt either.
