Acacia didnt work for me

I tried the acacia powder and I find it doesnt agree with me. I was cramping and evacuations were strained. I tried it on and off a few times to make sure it was the acacia that was bothering me.
Oh well, back to psyllium!

I had almost the same problem with Citrucel... cramping like crazy, and severe gas and bloating, something I've never had a problem with before. Everyone's system reacts differently to the different supplements - annoying, huh? I can't speak for the acacia because I've never tried it, but hey, at least you do know of something that does work for you! (The psyllium)

Have you ever tried the psyllium yourself? I like the capsules-no grit, easy to use.

I tried FiberChoice (inulin) chewables after my misadventures with the Citrucel. You don't have to take them with water, they taste good, and most importantly, they've worked GREAT for me, so I've had no reason to try anything else. I hear you on "no grit", though - I'll never take a powder supplement again, can't stand the texture!

I think Ill try the Fiberchoice also. Inulin is a good prebiotic(enhances absorption of probiotics like acidophilous and bifidus). Ill look for it at CVS, or online.

I couldn't find it at CVS, but our Walmart has it. The bonus to the Fiberchoice is that you can buy a $2 sample-size tube, with 10 tablets in it. So if it's going to cause you problems, you'll know before you've spent $20 on something.  Which is good, because although inulin has prebiotic effects (when I found that out, I was pretty happy about that), it tends to be hard for a lot of people to handle.

CVS didnt have it, you're right. No walmart near me so the search goes on.
You say some people cant handle inulin? What problems do they usually have?

Gas and bloating, typically. Something I didn't think to ask: are you having problems with the psyllium? If you're responding well to it, don't go through the bother and expense of switching - all soluble fiber supplements *work* the same in the body, it's just a matter of finding one you like and working up to a good (9g-15g/day) dose.

The psyllium doesnt bother me but Im only taking 3 capsules a day which isnt much. I find it helps me when i wake up in the morning. I was going to try the inulin just to see if i could add it to the psyllium. I'll buy the smallest size if it doesnt agree with me
