Hi all, Well, I am trying to just suck it up and take my multi-vitamin, 'cause I think I need it but I am still scared to take it for some reason... I have been fairly stable, so I just don't want to risk anything throwing me off. So if anyone's had a problem, or have any suggestions for how to be safe with the vitamin, I'd appreciate it! Thanks! --Steph

They don't really agree with me, but I found taking childrens vitamins was safer. The effects were not that bad - they just make me feel sick and the effect wore off as soon as I stopped taking them. I hope they work well for you - they are worth a try. Taking them after a meal helps, rather than on an empty stomach.

Vitamins all seem to give me heartburn, but none of them have ever bothered the IBS end of things.

Hi Steph,
I take Walgreens A-Z Select/ no Iron Vitamins. They agree with me fine. I was taking a vitamin that....after 2 weeks of "D"... realized had mannitol(similar to sorbitol)in it. Stopped taking it and was fine.
My suggestion is be sure you take your vitamin with food and read the label to make sure there is no sorbitol/mannitol or iron (which can be upsetting to stomach). Some people prefer children's vitamins so you might even look into that.
Good luck Barbie

I've had problems with multi-vitimins (D, hair loss, weight loss). This is what happened to me:

It doesn't look like I'm alone, so be careful. My specialists in France (who btw disagree with my american doctors) told me a lot of vitamins are crap and to avoid them. Most are way too strong and have can have unintended consequences. Read the labels carefully and make informed decisions!!! Don't go through what I went through. Remember, vitamins are chemicals.

Everytime I come here I learn! I also have trouble with vitamins, but thought I was just a wacko! My bil runs a health food store, so a while back he had me on these supposedly fabulous vitamins (expensive too! , but they made me sicker than a dog with indigestion! So I quit. But like you, I know I need them because it doesn't seem like I can get all the vitamins and minerals I need from what I eat since it's pretty limited. But Anyway, I went back to the plain old Centrum (or or something) multi vitamins with those "fillers" bil thinks are bad, and I'm allright, long as I have some toast or something. I think those fillers must buffer for me or something! lol Missyb
