safe(r) ranch dip

For appetizers at Christmas, I knew we'd have my sort-of-grandma's famous taco dip, which I can't eat, so I wanted something I COULD eat on the table, too. So I bought a carton of Tofutti's Better Than Sour Cream (formerly called Sour Supreme) and a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Dip Mix. Now, this is important. The DIP mix doesn't have any dairy in it. The dressing mix does, so don't buy that. The dip mix DOES, however, contain MSG, so if you can't eat that, sorry, this won't help you. Anyway, I mixed the dip mix with the sour cream sub., plus another half-carton of it Mom found in the fridge (it had been there since September and was still good--eegh!), and then we put the dip in a pretty bowl so no one would suspect--and no one did! So:
1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch Dip Mix
1 1/2 cartons Tofutti Better Than Sour Cream
Mix thoroughly, transfer to pretty bowl, serve with carrots, celery, cucumbers, sweet bell peppers, lightly steamed broccoli, etc.
