Yup, that might do it - it has a serrated blade, right? I have to laugh about your kitchen. Ours gets awfully cold at night when the heat shuts down, so we let our bread rise on the desk. I thought about leaving the desk lamp on for it - sort of a night light for dough. It might also work to put it on top of the refrigerator toward the back - the coils in the back of ours put out a lot of heat.
