Divinity Icing- Great for Angel Food Cake

I found this recipe in my local newspaper and I think it looks IBS safe w/o any type of alteration.
2 cups sugar 2/3 cup water 3 T light corn syrup 1 T vinegar 2 egg whites 1/4 tsp cream of tartar (or use 1 tsp vanilla) 1 pinch of salt 6 large marshmellows
Combine sugar, water, syrup, and vinegar and cook to softball stage (Does anyone know what that means??). Beat egg whites until stiff. Beat in the cream of tartar (or vanilla) and salt into eggs. Add 1/2 the hot mixture to the eggs. To the other 1/2 of hot mixture add the marshmellows and stir until they dissolve. Combine both and beat.
