I went to ask questions about celiac and other forms of gluten intolerance. Apparently that was asking too much. He seemed disinterestd in both IBS and celiac. What got me was the nonsensical wishy-washyness. "Well, you had a negative celiac test, but there are false-positives. We could start you on a new antidepressant at a low dose and/or do an endoscopy and biopsy to test for celiac." OK, well I'll do anything that will help, I said. "Well, let's do the antidepressant, 'cause you probably don't have celiac." Well, why am I better now that I gave up wheat? Could I have an allergy or intolerance to gluten? "That's what celiac is- an allergy. But food allergies are over-diagnosed. Most diagnoses of food allergies are just bogus." So WHY AM I BETTER NOW THAT I GAVE UP THE DANG WHEAT!?!?!?! So I asked if I should eat wheat again, then, or stay off of it. His reply? "No, stay off the wheat." So how am I supposed to know if it's the antidepressant or the lack of wheat or the next full moon that does or does not make me better!? Who knows.
