Hmmm..I eat applesauce..it's one of my favorites..I eat the unsweetened kind and I always warm it in the microwave before I eat it but i usually eat it with some bread or rice (by the way, I love the whole "give me a bowl of rice and i'll give you a smile" quote...I live by that too !). I don't know about the sorbitol. Maybe ask Heather. But she lists it as a safe food, so I don't think it should be a problem except triggers are different for everyone. GOod luck and I hope you'll still be able to eat it.
