The probiotic benebiotic contains more than 1/2 gram of inulin per capsule. Inulin is a rapidly fermentable soluble fiber producing gas. It is known to a problem ingredient for individuals with IBS.

Very few probiotics have been clinically tested for efficacy for IBS. Some probiotics that have been clinically tested on individuals with IBS that showed some positive benefits are Align, VSL#3 and digestive advantage.

Things like apples, pears, melons, high fructose corn syrup, honey contain more of the sugar fructose than glucose. The excess fructose can be malabsorb ending up in the colon where it can be rapidly fermented by colonic bacteria producing gas and in some individuals D. If these foods cause problems for you then they should be avoid. If you don't know then you might ask your doctor for a breath test to find out if you malabsorb fructose. You can read a full explanation in the first link in my signature in the section on fructose.

Similarly the fennel plant bulb which can be cooked and eaten can be a problem for some people. However, fennel seed used in tea and then discard is not a problem.
