What is your definition of "stable"?

I remember reading in Heather's book that she "hasn't thought about her own IBS in a long time" because she knows all the right things to eat. Is this sort of utopia possible? Or is "stable" just a "as good as you can get it" sort of concept?

For those of you ARE stable (and please give your definition of "stable"), how long did it take you to get there?

--------------------
IBS-A since age 12, and fructose sensitive; with the exception of my pregnancy, have been following Heather's diet since Nov. 19, 2007.
Taking 12g of Acacia per day. Relatively stable since March 2008!
