Perhaps you have not read Heather's EFI Guidelines. Heather is quite clear that both lactose and fructose can present problems for IBSers. She recommends avoiding dairy completely due to problems with lactose as well as with the dairy proteins whey and casein. She recommends caution around fructose. (web page)

If you do a Search within the Website for "fructose" you can find references to the role of fructose in IBS in the Newsletters. There are also references to the role of fructose in IBS dating back to at least 2003.
