Well, I got this whole post practically done, then took another look at your original post and realized you were going today, so I suspect I'm too late. Here it is anyhow - maybe it will help for next time!

My first suggestion is to just take your time and cruise the aisles. You'll see all kinds of interesting stuff. I've never tried any of the Amy's stuff for example - like pizza - or any of the frozen prepared food, but someday...

That said, here's stuff I like to buy at Whole Foods:

* Frozen shrimp - I love them boiled or grilled
* Ground white turkey meat
* Turkey and/or chicken sausages: they sell their own store-made (I've had the turkey, they're good) and ones by other companies that look good but I haven't tried yet
* Tofutti Better Than Sour Cream
* Silk and/or Rice milk: my DH uses Silk Soy Milk; I use Rice Dream Rice Milk which is nice because it doesn't need refrigeration
* Breads: Baguettes, Paesano, Ciabatta, Organic Italian are the bread counter breads with whole grains; if you can tolerate a little whole wheat, their Sourdough is also good; I also noticed my local one had started carrying Rosemary Bread again - if it's the same kind they used to carry, it's to die for - it has whole wheat, but I may be willing to risk it again to try this bread
* Luna Bars - always 99 cents at my local Whole Foods
* Teas: I like Traditional Medicinals Eaters Digest and Sleepytime, but if you can find those elsewhere I'm not sure Whole Foods has the best prices on them
* 365 Day Extra Virgin Olive Oil
* Basmati rice from the bins (Be Careful! My Whole Foods only has flimsy plastic bags to put it in and the last time I did that I sprang a leak in the check-out counter and there was rice everywhere. Double or triple bag it.)

Last, but certainly not least, "ice cream". (Remember, it's dairy-free but still high in fat, so eat only a little at a time (ROFLUTS) and after a high-soluble fiber meal (OK, that part, I do). Several months ago, I did a Search on ice cream and sort of compiled a list from what I found. I've pasted it in below, but I can certainly tell you that I agree with the first poster: Soy Dream Mocha Fudge ROCKS! I've also had the Cookie Avalanche (very good); one of the mint flavors, I don't remember which (to me, it tasted like toothpaste, but my DH liked it); Rice Dream Carob Almond Chip (very good), and a couple not on this list: Chocolate Obsession (very good) and Soy Delicious Chocolate Velvet (good).

Ice cream list compiled from assorted Board posts:
NUMBER ONE (by far): Soy Dream Frozen Non-Dairy Dessert, MOCHA FUDGE ROCKS!
Number Two: Soy Dream Strawberry Swirl
Number Three: Soy Dream Vanilla
Gee, I just realized my faves are all Soy Dream! --
Number Four: Tofuti Cuties, Peanut Butter
Number Five: Tofuti Cuties, Vanilla
Number Six: Soy Dream Blueberry
Number Seven: Soy Dream Chocolate
Number Eight: Cookie Avalanche
they're still higher in fat than we are allowed, so one scoop is about all, and make sure to have the soluble fiber beforehand. Best to have a super low-fat meal, then the "ice cream".
--------------------
My favorites are Soy Delicious Mint Marble Fudge (which comes in quarts in is slightly lower in fat) and their Cookie Avalanche (which comes in pints and is higher in fat because it's like the Ben & Jerry's of soy ice cream!).
When it comes to plain old vanilla soy ice cream, I actually prefer Tofutti's vanilla to Soy Delicious.
I also love vanilla Tofutti Cuties!
--------------------
No, you can only get Soy Dream "milk" at the grocery store. You have to go to the health food store for the frozen non-dairy dessert. BUT -- it's worth the trip! You will be amazed at the incredible choices of soy "ice cream" out there! AND -- you'll also want to stock up on Amy's frozen soy cheese pizza, soy parmesan, soy sour cream, soy cream cheese, Soy Garden "butter" --
--------------------
I'd say as far as ice cream, go with Soy Dream. But Tofutti fudgicals are yummy! I didn't like their icecream though. With soy dream, I tried the chocolate and didn't like it, but the butter pecan was very good. I've heard their other flavors are good as well, maybe it was just the chocolate that is blah?
--------------------
I like the SoyDream chocolate peanutbutter the best
--------------------
soy delicious peanut butter zigzag..VERY GOOD
--------------------
Dryers Peach Sorbet
Eddys Strawberry sorbet
Edy's Mango Whole Fruit Sorbet
Haagen Dias Rasberry Sorbet
Rice Dream orange vanilla ice cream
Soy Delicious Non dairy ice cream (the chocolate taste like chocolate cake!)
Soy Dream Mocha Fudge
Tofutti Cuties
WholeSoy Frozen Cultured Soy (= frozen yogurt)
WholeSoy Glace
----------------------------
Rice Dream Carob Almond Chip
