I am new to this forum, so please forgive me if my question might have been posted here before. Also, I wasn't sure which board I should post it on!
I have been having a lot digestion issues over the past 4 years and the Drs haven't been able to figure out exactly what it is. I have been having severe abdominal pain and cramps, nausea, faint-feeling (and actually fainting from time to time), frequent loose stools and/or diarrhoea, etc. I don't have all these symptoms every day and there seems to be months that I do much worse and then I'll have a relatively calm period of time and the whole thing starts again! I saw a GI specialist more than a year ago and he did an endoscopy for which the results came back normal! So, he just said it's probably IBS and there is nothing to be done! But I'm not really convinced yet! I'm also seeing a ND and she ordered a Comprehensive Stool Test for me and the results were that I had some bacterial overgrowth and lots of Blastocystis hominis parasites! so she gave me some herbs to kill the parasites and I was doing much better after those for a few months and the symptoms have come back again and we did another stool test and the parasites were still there! I've read a bit about B. Hominis and I understand that there is controversy over whether it can cause symptoms or not since it's been found in the stool of healthy people as well.
The other new symptom I've had is that I've been steadily loosing weight for a few month now (over 8 Kgs in about 4 months) without intention! I have also been thinking about IBD and in particular Colitis, and also panctreatic insufficiency. I'm seeing my GP in two weeks (she got concerned over my weight loss!) and was wondering if anyone here have gone through the same issues and know of any more tests that can be performed by my GP, either stool, or medical imaging tests.
