Stomach flare-ups with activity
      07/20/05 07:07 PM

HI everyone, I'm new. I was diagnosed with Crohn's in December and am on Pentasa. I have a strange symptom that seems to stump the GI and everyone else, I'm hoping someone else (ok, not really) might have or be having this too.

When I walk up a flight of stairs, for example, I get to the top and it feels like my stomach muscles are contracting. Sometimes it's lower abdomen, sometimes upper. It will stay clenched for a few seconds or a minute or so, then relax. It's intermittent. At times there's some reflux. I can exercise with no flare-up, but then walk into the next room and cramp.

I was diagnosed with IBS about 20 years ago, and the doc thinks the symptoms are more related to that than the Crohn's. I should mention that I never had the diarrhea associated with Crohn's, although I did drop 20 pounds without trying.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated!
