I'm curious to know how many of you out there are able to work. I've held steady jobs ever since 1962, but when I came down with IBS (that is, when I developed severe symptoms but didn't know what it was), I figured that whatever I had was caused from the extremely stressful job I held, so I changed jobs to something less stressful and closer to home. It didn't help. I then changed again to a part-time job, which was better, but I still couldn't call in sick every day, until finally, two years ago, I had to quit all together, unable to leave the security of my home bathroom. Social Security Disability was MOST unsympathetic, claiming that with IBS I should still be able to find a job near a bathroom. Am I alone on this?
My symptoms have gotten a lot better, and I believe they're constantly improving with every change I make, but the "urgency" prohibits me from being confined ANYWHERE. I can't imagine being in a board room full of people when suddenly having to JOLT out of there with no explanation, praying to make it to the bathroom in time. Is this what you guys go through? YOWZA! Bev
