I'm back from the UK!

I tried to stop in and say hi whilst I was gone but I couldn't log in. I did a lot of fun stuff and had mostly good weather. But the big news folks is that I was not sick at all! I had a bit of gas now and then but less than DH! The only problem was bloat yesterday after a good afternoon nap. It did go away and my back stopped hurting after the nap so it was worth it. I have to confess too that I cheated a great deal. I started good but then I felt so fine I started cheating and it got worse and worse. For instance last night I had a pretty low fat entree as I finally remembered to ask for no butter on my veggies so for dessert I had a strawberry tart and a little ice cream. The Brits make good ice cream. I also ate these flapjack things all the time. I had problems now and again finding something safe but I was never sick so I guess it worked out.

Ok here is the reason why: I had eater's digest tea with acacia in it before breakfast and before dinner. They have these water boilers things in the rooms in the UK and they are awesome. I am going to buy one. So I whipped up tea before meals and felt completely fine. One time I ended up pretty hungry before dinner and so I made oatmeal (I brought packets) with my tea and acacia. I also needed the oatmeal at the last B&B as they disregarded or forgot my request for special food. The breakfast choices were awful! She seemed to have some love for whole grains! (They call it wholemeal toast there.)
Nik Jones I thought of you in Bath for 5 days and when I ate out I thought maybe I can tell Nik about the menu here or there. But then most of it wasn't safe I just happened to feel good. But I can say that the Moon and Sixpence had safe blended soup and baguette. Also I have to say that soymilk in the UK tastes way better than in the US! It tastes like regular milk. There are so many differences in little things like that. Also I got pretty hooked on English breakfast tea and I'm afraid I will have caffeine withdrawls. It is not like I wanted to drink caffeinated tea but so many places have no choice at all and the whole drink ordering thing is always a problem for me there. DH just always gets a Guiness. He is upset though at how little whisky you get in a glass- like one swallow. But in general (for everything but beer) the drinks are way smaller. Last trip there I was dehydrated and C the whole time. In the US you get huge drinks at restaurants and always get free refills. In the UK they never give you ice water at the table as a matter of course. When you order water you have to ask for still water and you get a bottle which can be pricey. In fact dining out is tasty but very expensive. Actually last time we had better food, but if not for my diet I might have dined better. I had sorbet a couple times which was nice. And one time I had 4 bites of DH's cheesecake!
I was pretty bad and need to hop back on the diet. Anyway I just wanted to say how happy I was to not be sick at all. It is almost a miracle really!

"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
