where to live?
      #358188 - 04/29/10 06:50 AM

I really have the urge to relocate, but I'm having problems figuring out where to move to. This is compounded by the fact that I really haven't been able to travel very much to experience different places due to lack of money?

So, I'm asking you guys and gals? Where would be a good place to live? Thanks to all that help! I appreciate your opinions!

I think that really depends on why you want to relocate. Culture, work opportunities and family all come into the mix. Do you want to go abroad, spend time in Europe? If you want to go some place like New Zealand there's working visa programs you can explore.

I really like the advice in What Color is Your Parachute on how to pick a place to live and work.

wow, I'm not sure I'm up to moving that far yet. Although it would sure be a great experience. How do you get a working visa?

How about some place in the US?

Well, if you're interested in finding work, I can assure that my great state of Michigan is certainly NOT the place to live. Sorry. Can't be of much help.

Why Move?? new
      #358286 - 05/01/10 09:46 PM

I’m curious why you want to relocate? Are you working now? What do you do for a living?

High plains in the Wyoming Rocky Mountains is the only place left for me.

Not too many folks around mostly because winter is so harsh and so long.

Clear skies at day and starry starry nights.

The Tetons, Wind River, and Big Horn Mountains.

It’s so beautiful I get teary-eyed.

I look across the land and see God's handiwork in all things.

It is very difficult to answer this question. Do you work and would you need to find a job if you moved? That would impact your decision about where to move. You wouldn't want to move to an area that has a high unemployment rate.

I have no idea where you live now or how far away you would be willing to relocate. Do you prefer warm climates, cold or cool?

If you are serious about moving you could research different areas and maybe ask about those specific cities and if anyone knows anything about them.

For a work visa the best place to start is a particular countries immigration office site.

As for the US I really would advise getting a copy of what colour is your parachute (tonnes of copies can be had for free in the library) and working through the chapter on picking a place to live.

Honestly nobody can tell you where to live as we don't know what you want from life.

Yes, I am working. I just hate the winters here and I want to go someplace warmer and less expensive

I would need to find a new job. I want a warmer, less harsh winter. I'm willing to relocate anywhere, distance isn't an issue. Someplace pretty and nice people, low cost of living, etc.
