Okay I started taking a probiotic four days ago and wanted to know is this a common effect as the body gets prepared for the new friendly invasion. I'm taking Natrol bio beads it's a probiotic acidophilus. I been feeling a little bloated today and I was never bloated before at all. I feel almost like constipated bloated no pain. I don't take a fiber supplement because I have been regular and okay no constipation or diahhrea. I started the probiotic to gain some weight to give me a overall general feel good state.
This product is diary free, no egg, no wheat, corn, artificial flavors or colors. No sugar or preservatives. Has any one taken this brand? If this common feeling will it pass? check out their website www.natrol.com. I lost three lbs Been eating regularly and real good. I guess I have to go back to the Docs. to find out why???

Hi Sherr!!!

Have you been taking the probiotics on an empty stomach? With other supplements/meds? Did you increase the dose slowly? It's best taken on an empty tummy without any other supplements or meds. Drink PLENTY of water when you take it. And start slow! If you're doing all these things...there may be something in the probiotics that's just not for you and your tummy. I've never heard of the brand (it may have added fiber...some probiotics have things hidden in em').

HTH! Let me know

Love,
Ruchie

Sherr, I tried a probiotic and it did the same thing to me. It was also dairy-free acidophilus. I just saw a post from Bev the other day saying that no one seems to have had any problems with the jarrodophilus brand, though, so I'm considering getting some of that to try. She said there was a newbie who had problems with another brand but tolerated the jarro fine. I don't know why that would be the case, but it might be worth looking into!

Please do let us know! I've been dragging my feet because it's more expensive, but if it works for you I'll probably give in and try the jarro too!

Sorry you're having problems, Sherr. When I thought about taking a probiotic, I checked here first and discovered that Shanna was on Jarro and was apparently doing fine on it. Mags was going to order it, so I decided to give it a try as well. I've been doing great on it -- in fact, it's time for me to order more -- no problems at all, no side effects, just good, firm, satisfying poops. (Sorry.) As Kree said, there was a newbie on the boards who wasn't doing well on his probiotic -- I forget which brand -- so he switched to Jarro and reported back that he was doing just fine with it.

Here ya go, Girlfriend: Jarro Let us know how you make out with it.
