I am IBS-C and some of my periods I am the same way. Practically normal. I don't know why either. I hope someone can give us some insight. I also have never read this in Heather's books. If anyone else is this same way please post.

I'm a D and my periods always make my IBS worse but I have heard from several C-ers whose symptoms ease up during their periods. It seems to be pretty common for IBS-C.

Many years ago, long before I had IBS, when I had if anything a slight tendency to be constipated, I remember talking to my doctor about the fact that during my period I felt like I was on the verge of diarrhea. She explained that one of the hormones released around the time of your period produces something like diarrhea - I think it's prostaglandin but I really don't remember for sure anymore.
Given that it makes sense having a period would make Cs feel more "normal" tummy-wise while making Ds feel worse.

I wish it had worked that way for me; my periods ALWAYS made my C and bloating worse. Not having a period anymore is bliss!
