I'm still in a crappy Fibro flare and the energy drink I've been drinking has given me a mjor GERDs flare (despite meds), whilst the painkillers I've been taking have given me C (despite the caffeine in the drink! ).

So I need to up my IF, whilst doing something to help the GERDs, whilst feeling awful and not being at home! What do you think is the easiest way to do that? I had green runner beans with dinner last night and a few strawberries today but the fruit seems to be making the GERDs worse.

I'm hoping to get to the grocery store tomorrow (it's closed today! ), so what should I try to get. I also have the complication of no HFS and limited shops.

If you can handle whole wheat, maybe some whole wheat bread - or whole wheat-ish. Over here I can find breads that have some whole wheat but not totally. Beyond that, maybe apples. You could eat some but not all of the peel. Ditto peaches and nectarines.

If you have access to a blender, a smoothie with mostly bananas and peeled peaches for a good SF base and some blueberries for IF.

I'm so sorry you're still so miserable, especially while you're away from home. I hope everything clears up and settles down so you can enjoy some of your time away.

Take care.

I think I missed the point of my message - all fogged. I can't have fruit atm w/out it making the GERDs worse so that's my normal method out. And too much IF seems to make it worse too, but I'm not sure if that's really true. I've had some brown (not wholewehat) toast but it didn't do much...maybe I'll try more of that. Wholewehat bread just kills me.

I want a hug from my puppy.

Hmmm. Well the only other suggestion I can make is oatmeal. "They" say it helps with C and hopefully it wouldn't make your GERD worse. I do hope you find something that helps. Perhaps a friend or neighbor has a puppy you could borrow for a little while?

Take care.

Linz, You could try baked potato skins and or green peas
at dinner. A medium baked potato skin is about 5 g's, and
a 1/2 cup of peas is also about 5 g's. For breakfast, any
cup of Raisin bran cereal is from 7 to 10 g's. -Bob

I'll agree with porridge, if I feel acidy, it always helps, but make it stodgy, not runny, with no sugar. If you need something to make it taste better, try cinnamon (however you spell it). Avoid anything sugary, (as you say, fruit) will make it worse and yeast also will too - so maybe the bread isn't such a good idea?!

Are you getting indigestion?

Linz:

Is it the acidity of the fruit that is upsetting your GERDS? Perhaps sticking to low acid fruit, seedless fruit. I know that's boring. Maybe using more low acid fruit and hardly any acid fruit? How are you with Papaya? Banana? Use them as a base...

does that bother GERD or is it too sugary for fibro? What about just upping the SFS?

"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
