Drinking Water, trigger IBS?

Hello,
I was wondering if drinking a glass of water on an empty stomach triggers an IBS attack on others. In the morning when I wake up I drink a glass of water mixed with Accia fiber to take my medications, and within minutes I have painful gas, cramps, and have to go to the bathroom. Is water a known trigger?
Thank you,
Maria

I suppose it's possible it may bother you if the water is very cold or if you gulp lots of air down as you drink it. But my bet is that it's actually the Acacia. I take it in the am as well, and it helps me have a bm. I also take it at night before bed, and it always makes me a bit gassy and bloated. Since I'm going to bed anyway, and it's better by the morning, I don't really care.

I know it sounds weird but I become very nauseated when I drink spring water, also get heartburn when drinking purified water with added minerals but when drinking purified water without minerals then I'm fine! Go figure

Morning is always the worst time for me, I have found if I mix acadia w/ applesauce and eating that first thing (even before I have a sip of anything) and then not having anything for about 20 minutes I have a better morning (I don't take any other pills/supplements until after about 20 minutes of the acadia). (As long as you can have applesauce If I take the acadia in water first thing I am usually running to the bathroom in a couple of minutes.

I have also tried mixing the acadia w/ mashed banana, a few bites of leftover rice, etc., in the morning with favorable results - I just always have applesauce cups in the house so that is the easiest.

Yeah, drinking water on an empty tummy or just too much at one time definitely is a trigger for me. So I try to drink a bottle about 15-30 minutes after each meal.

Hi Maria

I suspect it isn't the water so much as the fiber supplement on a empty stomach. I got up to the bathroom at 7am this morning and had a normal movement. I wanted to sleep in so I took some acacia and water and then 1 hour later I had a loose movement. I've not had any problems with the supplement when I followed it with a meal.

If I drink purified water with minerals added I get D within about 2 hours. It took me several attacks to figure that one out. Now I stick to plain distilled water but I can tolerate spring water too.
