Stomach endoscopy and colonoscopy tomorrow

Hi,
I just took 4 Dulcolax laxatives with water. After I have a BM I must drink half a gallon of bowel prep. Yuck!
My tests are tomorrow. Wish me luck all. Any suggestions for today? I can't wait for today to be over!!

Good luck. In my experience, the prep was the worst part. I had to fast all day and then take Fleet Phosfosoda, which is the most most vile tasting thing to ever pass my lips.

Today is the worst part. Tomorrow is easy though you won't feel too great initially, after the tests are done and you wake up from a good nap you'll be ok. I did my tests recently, don't remember the ride home and slept for 2 hours. I could eat and drink so life was better, I just felt washed out. You'll be fine and hopefully get some answers.

I agree with Snorkie, the prep was the worst part for me. I was so hungry so keeping myself busy helped a ton. Watch tv or read a book, do whatever it takes to take your mind off food :-).

Hi Snorkie and Zara,
The prep asks that you drink 6 8 ounce glasses in one hour. I will do 4 instead. I get so full easily because my stomach shrunk when I lost 55 pounds over the last 9 months. I just pray I don't vomit. I put a flavor pack in the powder, it still tastes like hell!

Candy, I wouldn't recommend drinking less then the recommended dose. I know it's so hard to keep the solution down (I've done it twice) but you want to clean yourself the best you can. It doesn't matter that your stomach has shrunk, what matters is getting down the proper amount of chemicals that attract water into your intestine and flush you out. If you don't get clean enough your doctor might ask you to reschedule and then you'd have to do the whole thing again. It's not worth it. Stay strong  !

To rule out other problems. Then, by elimination, I would be diagnosed with IBS. Even though the doctors hadn't diagnosed me yet with IBS, I felt I had it based on my reactions to foods.

Hi Zara,
I think I am OK because what I pass now thru my anus is almost clear. I should be all right. I am about to vomit now and can't drink another sip of this horrible stuff! But I will keep drinking until I take half the bottle, as recommended.

IF it's almost clear now then you're probably OK. I just wanted to make sure they wouldn't have you repeat the whole thing again ! I still remember how I had to keep myself from gaging because I was sure the entire contents of my stomach would come up pretty soon!
