Could My Diet Be To Blame?

As I stated here, I have a bacterial overgrowth and Xifaxan did not help for ten days.
As part of my investiagtion as to why it didn't and the next step I wanted to look at my diet which I have been following for a long time.
Meal 1
Oat bran w/applesauce
Egg whites
Cereal (Shredded Frosted Wheat, Captin Crunch)
Meal 2
Graham Crackers
Pears/Peaches/Applesauce
Meal 3
Turkey Sandwich
Cracker Jacks
Meal 4
lowfat chips/salsa
or graham crackers or bread
Meal 5
Chicken/fish
Potatoes/Rice
3 cups Spinach (4 times a week)
Meal 6
Oat bran and applesauce (4 times a week)
Shake (Egg protein powder)
-64 oz of water
-Benefiber three times
-Jarrodophillus
-Desert Rice milk, Soy Ice Cream
The only possible problems I can see are
1) Cereal, which for some reason always makes me feel worse
2) Graham Crackers?
3) Need for fruit in meal four snack, no lowfat chips.
4) Having a vegetable 6-7 not 4 times a week
5) Having oat bran w/applesauce 2 times not 1 a day
6) Having 100 oz of water
7) No Rice Milk and Soy Ice Cream
That said none of these seem to be major, glaring problems as there are few obvious triggers, a lot of soluable fiber, and it would appear sufficent fiber and water.
Your thoughts?

I was thinking modifying my diet to this would help, but again doctors have told me after reviewing my diet it does not appear food has a big effect at this stage as the triggers are gone.
Meal 1 Oat bran with applesauce Egg whites
Meal 2 Graham Crackers Peaches/Pears/Applesauce
Meal 3 Turkey Sandwich Crackewr Jacks
Meal 4 Pretzel/Bread Peaches/Pears
Meal 5 Chicken/Fish Rice/Potatoe Spinach
Meal 6 Oat bran applesauce Shake (Egg protein powder)
-Benefiber or Acadia 3 times a day -Jarrodophillus or VSL -100 oz water -Desert no Rice milk, Soy Ice cream but Trader Joe's lowfat pie and arrowroot cookies

Hi, I have followed your posts for a long time, and you've posted your diet many times, and it hasn't changed. Part of dealing with IBS is finding the foods that work for you. This may mean that certain foods will not work for you even if Heather hasn't identified them as very problematic. Also, what are your symptoms?
I would suggest trying to change your diet until you find what works. Here's some of my suggestions:
Eat IF more frequently in the form of vegetables: I see all you have in a day is spinach with one meal. You should have IF with every meal. I found vegetables easier to tolerate than whole wheat or grains. I also found that having my oatmeal with some fruit such as strawberries, blueberries or nectarines very tolerable.
Low fat chips, graham crackers: Still not the best choice for a snack. Maybe have a look at Heather's ideas for snacks.
Shake: egg protein powder, is this safe?
I hope you try changing your diet until you figure it out. Don't give up! Kat

Hi, If you have tried all other things, and still not getting better, maybe it is something you are eating that your body can't tolerate, at least not right now. Lots of people have grain allergies and don't know they do, or don't want to admit they do. (It would mean giving up a lot of yummy food!)Could it be that? Don't know. Also, I am very allergic to yeast. If I eat it I get lots of gas, some pain and bloating as well as abnormal BM the next day. Why not eliminate grains and yeast, even for a week if you are serious to find the reason. Other than that, don't know. Good luck. Best, Kim
