This post isn't really about eating or diet, but I knew this would be a place I could talk about something important to me. Over the weekend we took our daughter to a farm animal sanctuary near our home (Peaceful Prairie). What an incredible experience!! We got to walk among the cows, chickens, goats, turkeys, sheep... you name it!! I never knew how friendly and affectionate goats and turkeys, especially, are. They would come right up to us and rub against our legs, just like a dog or cat would, asking to be petted!! After sharing a few wonderful hours with these amazing animals, it really reinforced my belief in a vegan diet. I couldn't look those animals in the eye and then return home to drink milk or eat a chicken breast like nothing ever happened. I don't know how people do that, compartmentalize things like that.

Anyway, I would encourage all of you to seek out sanctuaries like Peaceful Prairie that are near your home, and go visit! My 17 month old just thought everything with fur was a "puppy", but she still had a great time.
