Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

Hi Everybody:
I have had IBS my whole life (OK I will admit to being the Mom of a 40 year old, but I was very young....) I was 18 and visiting colleges when I had my first attack. The next one was at college and the doctor called it spastic colon. Years later they started to call it IBS. Sometimes it goes away and you can eat almost normally and then, wham, out of nowhere you can be reduced to eating gruel, like Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. No wonder he was so grumpy. Probably a fellow IBS sufferer. ANYWAY I don't mean to go on and on, but I am just starting Heather's books, advice etc and I would like to know if any of you have used fennel tea. I am just trying it. Peppermint works, but it does give you heartburn. How about fennel? By the way I love Fettucine Alfredo too, but it would kill me. Isn't it fabulous to have answers to all the questions about what foods are not our friend and what foods are as well as how to add foods back into your diet after coming off a bad attack? Who knew?

Also can you tell me how to get myself on your board with a picture and Bio like all of you? Thanks.
